ESEE Avispa question

Can any of you ESEE Avispa owners give me some guidance here? I know the black blade models will show wear quickly on the blade, just like the black Rat model 1. I have a heavily used Rat 1, so I know what a worn in, well used and well loved blade looks like.

My question is, is the black coating on the Avispa frame and pocket clip the same as the blade - meaning will it wear just as fast? Or is it somewhat tougher than the blade coating?

I love the look of the black frame, but I think it would bother me if that coating wore off as fast as it tends to on the blade.

I don't know how the coating is on the frame or the clip, but I wouldn't think it would wear as much as the coating on the blade at all. You don't use the frame or the clip to cut stuff.

I don't think it would wear as fast. I DO think it is the same coating, as the bare versions are stonewashed the same way, blade and lock side. So oils in your hand, use, chipping and dings from contact with other stuff, and pocket wear will remove the coating. It isn't like DLC which takes forever to abrade.

Yes, my avispa that I carry at work wears super fast like the blade. It may be a tiny bit tougher, but it seems the same to me. Just loose change has scuffed it up a bit.

Those knives are slightly different in design, but made in the same factory from the same materials. The coatings are the same, so yes the wear will be the same. Given the above no reason to expect much difference.
