ESEE Firesteel size

I was checking going gear to find the same fire rod as my esee firesteel.. do someone happen to have the exact dimension of the esee firesteel ? or even better, the name of the GG rod that perfectly match the esee one..

thank you for your help.. away from home, can't verify myself
 
3/8" diameter x 2" long. The closest thing GG has is the "Beaver" which is 3/8"x3".
 
thanks for the lightning fast reply.. its for the survival tin in my esee pouch..

like my backpack, the tin space is very limited but i feel the need to add a bigger one (with no handle to save space) and i like the thickness of the esee one..

If i get a 4 inch long.. is there a way to cut it in half (i got the picture in my head of putting a metal saw on a firesteel .. showers of sparks everywhere, etc..)
 
No prob, working from home today and just took a break.

Sure, you can cut them with a hacksaw, just have to take your time to prevent the shower of sparks. :D
 
good to know.. good to know.. i'll try to not cut the firesteel over a bundle of tinder :D

They got a 1/8 "mouse" fire rod that would save a lot of space (and its not the #1 source of fire, but a backup in the survival tin) but it seem without having one that it would break like a wooden match from being too small at the first strike
 
Get the Cougar Firesteel from GG, that what I would do.

I will be picking up the beast soon....:eek:
