Hello people of BladeForums!

I had a question about the ESEE warranty. I know that the unconditional warranty is for the fixed blades (except for the 440C models), and I was wondering if that applied to the folders such as the Avispa and Zancudo?
Thanks!

I believe the folders are not under the lifetime no questions asked warrenty.

the zancuo and avispa are made by Blue Ridge knives and not Esee. I think Esee is used in part as marketing and I think it's confusing, personally. I don't know where you go to find out the warranty on blue ridge produced knives.

Per Esee's warranty page, they will not warranty knives designed by them and manufactured by someone else.

For Zancudo
"Brand:BRK Designed by ESEE"

So no idea on whether the Avispa has a warranty? I won't by ESEE knives, but I like the design better than the RAT in some ways and thought about getting one.

No, they have a warranty under BRK. You can contact them at their site and get their address. I sent an Avispa in and they sent me a new one.

About the BRK/Esee thing, they were designed and marketed by Esee, but outsourced to BRK to produce because they would be more budget friendly.

ESEE doesn't make Knives. Other companies make their knives and ESEE sells them. Kind of like Cold Steel and Fallkniven. I believe the folders have some kind of licensing agreement.

ESEE is basically a marketing front.

From the website (highlight and colour added)....

"Our knife designs with other manufacturers include the Zancudo and Avispa (photo below). These knives are manufactured, sold and warrantied through Blueridge Knives in Virginia"

....so yes they have a warranty but different to the fixed blades.

Sure, like every other survival school/ contract instructor who has designed products. The difference is, ESEE has always been upfront as to who makes the knives for them, from the Ontario days up until now. They let Rowen take credit for their great work, just like they do with blue ridge.

That's all fine and dandy that they are up front about who makes their knives. That should be expected. They still honor their warranty other than how it's worded and as a marketing tool.

I feel like maybe your other post sounded more derisive than intended. and I'm not 100% clear on this post either, just trying to make sure I know what you mean. In my opinion all warranties are a marketing tool, it tells me how much a seller is willing to back their product.

On the box my Avispa came in it says. Warranty:
BRK
166 Adwolfe Road
Marion,VA 24354

It also says. Designed by Randall's Adventure & Training

On the Avispa BRKs logo is next to the wasp
On my ESEE's Rowen is etched on the blade opposite of the model stamp/etch
Does any of this mean you can shoot the knife with high powered riffles ,run it over with heavy machinery, launch it out of a cannon at a building ,or tape it to dynamite and expect to have it replaced?

Rowen blades, yes, Blue Ridge, no. Blue ridge I understand have a more "industry standard" folding knife warranty. Though I will note that you may expect a little (or a lot) of snark from the RAT guys, depending on how you destroyed your Rowen. They have realistic expectations of the knives, and are not quiet about letting people know when they think someone is being foolish.
