I am curious what ESEE knife you guys/ gals think has the most comfortable handle when used for survival-craft and bushcraft. I figured a poll would be an easy way to gather the answers. I am going to leave the Lite Machete out of this one since it is not exactly in the same category and it has a different style of handle, which I suspect is very comfortable. I would also appreciate any comments/ general discusion you all would like to make about your RATs and ESEE knives regarding ergonomics.

What prompted this poll?:

I am down to only owning an Izula () out of the ESEE collection and it is really getting to me. After trading my old RC-3 there has been a void in my kife-life:D. I am looking at the #6 and the Junglas right now, but I may have to cave and buy another #3. I really liked the stoutness of that model. Ergonomics are big for me, so I am hoping this poll will aid my decision, and maybe help some others as well.

As an aside, I currently have enough knife-money to get the Junglas, so if I get the #6 I'll have some leftover that can go towards other gear, like those Maxpedition bottle holders... The new REI Flash 18 pack... A Victorinox Swiss Tool... Ah, decisions decisions:D

Thank you all for your responses.

PS -Feel free to post lots of pics:D:thumbup::thumbup:

If you liked the 3 then you'll like the 4 since they are identical except the 4 has just a little more girth. This is the same with the 5 and 6. Essentially the exact same handle but the 5 would be just a little thicker.

I love both handle styles but if forced to pick one I would say the 5/6 handle.

I should have allowed multiple votes in the poll, does anyone know if I can still change it?

Either way, thanks for the votes guys.

well i only own two, ESEE3 and izula, and they both feel great
of the two i would give the nod to the ESEE3
and pics? PICS? you asked for em, i got em :D

I love the handle on the 6. I would love to have something with that handle and a shorter blade.

Thanks for the pics! It really helps the decision process, I think...:D:p

Thanks again for the votes everyone.

all of them ESEE's so very comfortable just love em in hand.but the junglas is just so much more comfy even so that much more.

for me the 6 is the most comfortable for general bush use. you can do small tasks or large with no problems. the junglas is very comfortable too but not as easy to use on small stuff. the 3 is my favorite for food prep.

the 6 is the one that i find riding on my belt the most in the woods though.

I like the 4 and I also would say the 6! H.E.S.T 3rd place/or Esee 3 The Scales help The Izula / Maybe 4th.

haven't spent enough time with the Junglas to tell you if it's more comfortable than the 5/6 grips.
If you liked the handle on your TAK, you'll love the feel of the 5 & 6.
I find the 3's grip small enough it causes cramping after long use, but I have big paws.
Odd thing is that the Izula doesn't cause me the same problem.

My vote would be for the ESEE6 to go with your Izula and pick up some extra pouches or a couple arrowheads.

It is interesting to see the #4 has more votes than the #3. I had thought they had the same handles... I guess the 4 is a little larger?

I ended up going for the ESEE4. It was a tough call, but in the end I knew I wanted something in that size and after seeing how the poll went I figured I couldn't go wrong. I almost ordered the #6, but I figured if I will already be carrying a machete that I wont need the extra length. Plus, I was able to get some other things as well.

Thanks for the votes everyone. This poll is still on for those who haven't voted yet. When I get the ESEE4 I'll give it a try and then maybe I'll be able to vote.

3 & 4 are basically the same as is the 5 & 6 , the junglas is super comfy but for camping/bushcraft task I voted the 6. Due to ease of use and scale comfort

i voted for the 4. although they are the same shape, that extra thickness of the 4 over the 3 is definitely noticeably better. also, i would've voted for the junglas if multiples was allowed.

as a side note, i can't find a comfortable grip on the 5 at all. one of these days i think i'll sand the edges down to make it more rounder. out of all my knives, i think the esee-4 & junglas are my top two favorites.

I voted for the 6. None feel bad in my hand but the 6 (and by proxy, the 5) feel perfect.

The Junglas is a close second, it also feels fantastic.

I cant vote since I haven't handled the Junglas...but for my gorilla hands, the 5 and 6 feel just great.

The Izula with wrap is insanely comfy too.

The others are comfortable enough.
