I am yet again looking at ESEE knives, I have read thread after thread of praise for them but I have owned a few 1095 knives and while good solid knives they are not remarkably tough, they chip easy and dull quick on cardboard I have noticed. however everyone talks about esee heat treatment so I have to ask does the heat treatment put the knife anywhere even remotely close to busse-kin knives? I obviously won't be hacking cinderblocks but not losing a 2mm chip from my knife if I hit something metal would be nice.

In Noss4's test the edge didnt chip at all, it looked in great shape even after concrete. I have battoned many a log with my RC-4 and it never took any damage but finish wear. Great knives!

I would not hesitate buying another ESEE - I don't care what the steel numbers say, I just KNOW that ESEE knives are the best on the market on many levels.

Its true that 1095 isnt super steel. It sharpens easy, its reliably and the rowen heattreat makes the pretty durable.
