Preface:

I'm looking to add a small fixed blade to my EDC as back-up blade. I'm currently considering a Tops Mojo, Tops B-Key or an Esee Izula. I know these knives vary greatly in ergonomics and am leaning towards the Izula. I've always been interested in one and it seems like a very practical knife.

Ok, to the point of the post I don't want to carry around my neck or horizontal on my belt. Ideally I'd carry vertically in the small of my back under my shirt. I haven't seen this as a popular place to carry and was wondering if anyone out there carries their Izula, or any small fixed blade, like this?

First post so I hope I don't offend anyone with my formatting.

I EDC'd an Izula for about a year, and I carried it vertically on my belt with the clip plate. That being said, I don't like when handles poke me in the side, so I flipped it upside down. Never had a problem with retention, either.

I use an eCLIPse mounted to a plate and carry it vertically in my pocket.

Under a shirt in the small of your back is 'concealed carry' - you'd only do this for a specific reason.
It is difficult to access for deployment (use) or re-sheathing (dangerous), it can be uncomfortable, your clothing can become caught on the handle, demonstrating to everyone EXCEPT YOU that it is there (not very 'concealed'), and someone behind you can access the knife more easily than you = bad. Very few people carry a knife behind them except in movies. It is generally impractical if not dangerous.

I carry mine in an IWB sheath on my side and it presents very little noticeable profile. You may want to check your local and state laws for concealed carry.

Different strokes I guess......

Op, carry it however you want.

You have some very valid points, I really hadn't considered most of what you brought up. I was merely thinking of what would be most comfortable and out of the way. I should mention I was planning on carrying the Izula in addition to a folder.

I carry one vertical on the side

Great price and excellent customer service. Carries nice, doesn't get in your way, and you don't have to worry about concealed carry.

Ever considered the Spyderco Street beat..... Excellent ergos, VG10 blade, most comfy carry (for me), gorgeous knife.... But a bit pricey....

Love mine!
