I was out today taking pictures for the website I am working on and thought I would snap a few pics for a Quick Review. Enjoy!!
Recently I discovered ESEE made G-10 Scales for the Izula. So, of course I just had to order a couple set's.
Some background and observations:
1) I always preferred the BK-11 handle with scales over the BK-14 and Izula. The Izula II isn't bad either.
2) I really didn't like the ESEE Micarta scales on either the Izula or the BK-14. It was just to small and was not comfortable enough for me.
3) The KA-BAR Zytel on the 14 and 24 were ok but I don't like the feel of it as much as Micarta or G-10.
4) I still love the BK-11 the most. lol

So after receiving my sets of G-10 in the mail, I quickly grabbed some allen wrenches and started ripping scales of of my Izula. I then placed one set on the Izula and headed out to the garage with the other set to modify the kydex insert that fits in between the scales to keep them centered so It would fit on my 14.
After a few minutes I now had two new set's of scales pimped out on my 14 and Izula. Then came time to test them out. I have to say that I now love the Izula. Really, I have been using it almost everyday for about 2 weeks. It feels so nice in the hand and the texturing on the scales is amazing! It really is a totally different feeling knife that with the ESEE Micarta.
As far as the feel on the 14, Well It isn't bad at all. The handle on the 14 and 24 are wider so the metal sticks out around the scales but it isn't uncomfortable. I am probably going to break the edges on one of my 14's or 24's so they are rounded. Or even grind one down almost flush with the scales? I think either way will give it a great feel with the ESEE G-10. I will give you all an update whenever that happens.
So in conclusion, If you have thought about getting the G-10 for either you BK-14/24 or for your Izula, I say go for it.
Yes you do have do a little sanding to make the insert fit on the Becker's but it is totally worth it.
Ok.......... Picture time!! haha
Here is the Izula:
Closer up: (and look at that texture)
I put it on my BK24 so you all could see the metal more clearly:
Here are a couple of shots together:
