ESEE Izula II sheath

I got my ESEE Izula II today in the mail. It is actually bigger than I expected. It seems like a really good knife.

One thing I don't like about it is the sheath. I had to flip the belt clip over for right side mounting. The clip also sits too low for my liking.

Has anyone got a good mod for the sheath on this that would put the belt loop/clip higher on the handle? I'm thinking like the backing kit for the larger ESEE-6 sheath.

I just use paracord to make belt loops and carry my Izzy horizontal on my belt. Works great too.

I remember seeing a picture of how another forumite rigged up their Izzy II's belt-clip plate so that it was kind of a dropped cross draw. Basically put it upside down and angled so two of the mounting holes lined up with the sheath's top hole and the elongated opening.

I generally find paracord to be the best carry method...but a Spyderco G-Clip might also do the job for you. I think it should ride a bit lower than the ESEE clip plate.

Bingo on the paracord lashing! For the original - in the pocket works just fine too.

I didn't know the Izula II came with a clip. Does anyone have a pic of it?

use a piece of leather or nylon as a backer plate - punch holes so it attaches to the sheath and punch more holes for the clip plate - or just sew a simple belt loop in it.

I made a backing for it that I screwed into the plastic sheath it came with. I now belt carry it.

You can see it in my video I made on all my knives. Sorry dont have any pictures of it at the moment.

Thanks for the video link. That helped. I see you have an RC-6 too. I am getting one but they're back-ordered right now. The sheath idea you have looks like a good option. I will see if I can come up with something.

Any particular reason you stripped the paint?

I did learn the hard way today that the screws on the sheath come loose :) I lost one already. I put some Loc-Tite on the other 3 so I wouldn't loose them too.

I took some leather I had laying aroundand made a dangler loop and attached it with the screws that come with the original belt clip. I waterproofed the leather with a combination of several different boot waterproofing products. Heating the leather in the oven helped the waterproof stuff soak in. It works great. I have it set so that the top of the handle is even with the top of my belt. I am a fat ass these days so if I want to carry a fixed blade I have to have some kind of dangler sheath.

I have been looking at other stripped IZULA's that people had done and I just thought I would give it a try. I like it. It slices better now as well due to less friction from the coating.

Knifeworks has the RC6 in stock at the moment. Where are you trying to order it from?

The Knife Connection seems to have some ESEE-6s in stock.

I actually like the clip plate for the Izula original, at first i didn't like how you had to flip it for right side carry but it actually puts it on the inside of your pocket, belt, waist, for a more concealed carry (as its advertised a concealed carry survival knife), but you could get a Molle lock which fits at different angles on the sheath..I agree that cord works well too...pics or it didn't happen

I am going to get the olive drab color with a plain edge from the knife connection. They're out. No worries though. I don't need it, I'll get one when I get one :)
