I bought this Izula two weeks ago, and purchased the black g10 Esee scales as well.
I truly love wood handles and decided to make my own. Not wanting to screw up an expensive set of scales on my first attempt, I found a piece of Brazilian Cherry pretty cheap, and planed it down to the thickness I needed. I found out quickly that my scroll saw with a brand new blade wouldn't hardly scratch hardness of this wood. shaping had to be done with a grinder and file. Sandpaper from 36 grit to 600 grit, and several coats of tung oil. I reused the Esee spacer and hardware from the g10 scales. I going to make a few more sets, one from scraps from a very expensive chunk of walnut my father used to make a rifle stock with years ago, and a desert ironwood set soon.

Thanks! I was surprised at the hardness of this wood. I had to get a friend/cabinet maker by trade to get the scales cut to the right size. I'm going to have to invest in a better saw. here is a little better picture.
