Hello, I am in the market for a small fixed blade edc I have narrowed down my choices to two knives the esee izula (1 or 2) and the bk14 the size is not a deal breaker the price is not a deal beaker I just like them both and I wanted to hear some outside opinions so which one do y'all like more and why? Thank you for your time-Calvin

I love my Izula, just a great knife overall. Did well pumpkin carving. Still very sharp.

I only have the Izula and I would recommend it. Its a super sharp little knife and you can get the micarta handles for it which really makes it a super comfortable user.

I have both. My Izula is a 1 (shorter handle) because it rides in a pocket sheath in my cargo pockets a bit better than the longer Izula 2. My BK14 has a set of TKC scales and I found that they completely changed the knife for me. They are very well thought out and they added enough weight to the handle to give the knife a pretty much neutral balance instead of it being blade heavy. Both knives are very tough and easy to maintain. Both carry well, but the BK14 carries better horizontally. I carry at 10:00 for RH cross draw. An piece of bicycle inner tube is ideal for the BK14 sheath and holds it in place very securely. I could do the same thing with the Izula, but the BK14 gives me a touch more blade length. Another advantage to horizontal carry with the BK14 is that the sheath is just a bit bigger than the Izula sheath. That's important because I can leave the TDI belt clip on the sheath and still get enough of the inner tube around the sheath under the belt clip to have both carry options always available. The Izula sheath is too small for that.

The Izula (I actually have 2) is a better pocket sized FB and rides in a cargo pocket with a flashlight as my work / bedside kit. I keep the second Izula strapped to the back of a Maxped bag on the back floor board of my car where I can reach it from the driver's seat. I carry the knife along with a small FAK, water, emergency food, a heat sheet, light & batteries, fire kit, and a spare 7-round mag for my Kahr. Sort of an "arrive alive" bag for traveling.

Anyway... either one will serve you well. If you can only get one, I'd say go for the extra blade length on the BK14 and get a set of scales from TKC. If it has to be a pocket carry, I'd vote for the Izula 1 with TKC scales.

I've never owned the 14 but I've owned the 11 and both izulas. IMO the izula 2 is the best option because it gives you a full grip. The others are 3 finger grips maybe 3 and 1/2. The extra half inch on the 2 makes a world of difference. I also like the Izula line more because the blade has better geometry for what I do. In the end they're all pretty good knives though.
