Does anyone pocket carry an Izula or Izula-II? I know that many people do, but I'm curious about how it can be implemented into an EDC platform.

Currently, I EDC a CRK Large Inkosi; I love the knife and have absolutely no reason to buy another. But, lately, I have been intrigued by the Esee brand, and want to pick up a small fixed blade just to see what it's like to carry one.

A little about me: I don't wear tactical clothing when I'm not at work, and typically always only wear blue jeans, sneakers, and t-shirts when I'm off duty. So, I'm looking for something that doesn't involve cargo pockets or boot sheaths.

I saw a really nice and simple looking leather pocket sheath for either an Izula or Candiru on one of the pages I visited, but I can't remember where it was. It was a simple leather deal that pretty much just covered the blade area.

I'm not "dead set" on pocket carry, so any suggestions will be considered. I haven't purchased the knife yet, I'm still kind of feeling it out.

TIA!

I don't like stuff hanging around my neck, so I carry my Izula in a pocket or on my belt. I put a simple cord wrap on the handle which I covered in resin and trimmed all the extra plastic off of the sheath. I just left one of the eyelets to allow me to add a clip and to catch on my pocket seam to aid in drawing the blade.

I have in the past. The best way I found was to add a length of cord from the large hole at the tip, long enough to loop to your belt-loop or belt. This can help stand the knife up in deeper pockets, keeping it from going all the way to the bottom. Then you have either slow draw, poping the sheath off with your thumb, or speed draw, and just let the cord take the sheath off. Long time member Mercop referred to it as the tactical tether. And it worked well with the standard sheath.
If you want classier, there are a few aftermarket ones around, or if you had something in mind it would be easy to get someone here to do one up for you as its a pretty common knife, I'm sure a lot of guys have a pattern for it.

Knives Ship Free and DLT Trading both offer some nice pocket sheaths (front or rear) that will fit the Izula. You can also carry a small flashlight or pen, or even your small CRK in some of the sheaths along with the Izula.

Search Izula pocket sheath on ebay. Patriot leather has a good one. Look into the Giantmouse knives GMF1. You may like it better and it comes with a nice sheath.

I carry a stainless Izula quite a bit with jeans. I use a leather pocket sheath from KSF in my rear pocket or an Armatus kydex sheath in my front. The leather sheath has an extra slot that I keep a SAK Pioneer in. The Armatus kydex design has a cut out on the bottom that I can 'catch' on my pocket top when I draw. The knife comes out and the sheath drops right back into the pocket. The Armatus also comes with a soft loop for horizontal belt carry.

Out of curiousity, are you unable to carry it on your belt like most fixed blades? Maybe you are trying to avoid legal issues?

I'm allowed to carry it on my belt, but I typically wear my shirt tucked in and don't like the idea of exposing it. I'm legally allowed to carry it, it's just a personal preference. I live in Tennessee, and we basically don't have any knife laws to speak of as long as you're not stabbing someone.

I just looked up that GMF1 - I *DO* like that... but their website says they're sold out.. :(

Understandable. I open carry a fixed blade somethimes depending where I'm at. Around the suburbs, no problem. Downtown Chicago, no way!

I recently started adopting horizontal carry/cross draw with a Carothers EDC. I usually wear loose button up shirts, so it hides the knife pretty well. I'm not familiar with who makes something similar for an Izula, but it might be worth looking into.

Here's a stock sheath I modded to pocket carry several years back. I used a nite eze lock clip. Still carry that way today.

I often carry my Izula or Candiru in back pocket. The Izula in a thin sleeve, and the Candiru in Kydex with removable R/L horizontal belt loop. Both home made. Don't know why, but I hardly ever reach for the Izula II. I guess I just think of these when I want tiny or extra thin.

I cross carry to conceal. It's legal in PA. But that being said. I live 2 miles from Philly. Most of the time I will just drop the knife in my console when I am in Philly. I also am using a Armatus carry system. I have them for 3 blades.
