Im thinking about getting the Esee Izula for a new neck knife but im wondering what else would be a good recommendation for a new neck knife or fixed blade.

I like my Becker BK-11. Made by Ka-bar. Alot of bang for your buck with Becker knives. They also make a BK-14 which has the Izula handle. Here's my BK-11, modded:

Take a look at the Becker Knife & Tool sub-forum.

You won't find better than an Izula unless you go full custom IMHO. The BK11 was a big disappointment to me when I got one...ergonomically and geometrically doesn't hold a candle to the Izula. Becker is a good company but I think they shine up in the big blade arena, not down in the the Izula size range.

Blackjack and Bark River both have neck knives in their lineup. BRKT has a 3V neck knife if you like trying out new steels. There are also quite a few custom makers on the boards here that can do neck knives and sheaths to go with them.

I really like my Izulas, but I don't know how well they'll fit your specs. You haven't said what you're looking for in terms of size, weight, or tasks. They can be worn as a neck knife, though. I'd probably want the Izula 1 with just a cord-wrapped handle rather than a scaled handle if I was gonna wear it around my neck.

Welcome to Blade Forums! The ESEE Izula-II, with the Micarta grips, was my choice for a small fb. I tried carrying small neck knives - not for me. To be effective as a cutting instrument, one needs a better handle than the typically small & thin skeleton - in my mind, at least. The Izula needs a better pocketable leather sheath, otherwise, it is ideal. YMMV.

The Izula 2 is the way to go. It offers you a full grip unlike the Izula 1 and the beckers. It's the smallest "full size" knife I've owned. I have 2 of them. :D

The most affordable customs are little neck knives, might be something to check out. Some S30V, Izula-sized ones I saw the other day were $85 with kydex sheath. 1095 is dirt cheap compared to most knife steels (not to say its bad), there is no reason for one to cost over $50.

I have 2 Izulas and both are good. The Izula II is a very nice small knife, just recently got one and it feels better in hand than the Izula. Can't comment on the Candiru. I'll probably get one once the scales become available. The Bravo Necker II is another nice knife. Larger blade than the Izula's but I wish the handle was another 1/2" bigger even though I can get all my fingers on it. You can get different handles for it too and right now its available in 3V.

If you want an edc fixed blade under $100 this is your best bet imo. There are some absolutely amazing makers in the custom section that sell knives for good prices. Eliot, Alan Davis, etc. i just picked up this Peewee by Eliot for under $100 with a nice leather sheath:

He has another listed now I would love to have but I keep telling myself to wait for yhe first one that's still in the mail. Hopefully I can hold out until someone else buys it.

If you must go production, look at the Scrapyard Scrapivore as an alternative to the Izula.

I've carried the Izula for a while now and it's great but I cary it mounted to a belt. The ESEE-Candiru (w/scales) is a great neck knife and I don't think it can be beat for size. I also like the Scrapyard Swamp Rat which has a pretty comfortable handle but it's 3x bigger than the Candiru.

The only downside to the Candiru is ..... I mean was the sheath.. I've been making a bunch of these for the guy's on the ESEE forums.

I love it when a small edc/psk type knife gets the "Full Treatment" with scales, etc. and I try to do the same with the sheath... these are really small and all the parts used are tiny too.

The Esee Izula 2 is my favorite knife. I have a grey powdercoated version that was a knivestown (I think) eclusive. If you want something smaller, go with the Candiru. You cant go wrong with an Esee!

Izula is the best way to go. No need to search anymore. But if you do, the Blackjack Necker and the Bark River Necker are good ones to look at.

Another vote for the Izula. Its my favorite fixed go to blade. Very handy, easy to sharpen, takes a beating :)

a while ago i was choosing between the izula and the tops mini harpoon for a neck knife, i ended up getting both.
i'm a fan of the izula, but as an alternative the mini harpoon is an awesome little knife. great leather sheath that looks good on the outside of a shirt. it's lighter then the izula on the neck, and the gimping is more substantial then the izula. only downside is no belly and a smaller cutting surface.

I would recommend the Izula II, can't beat the warranty and the knife feels great in your hand If you are considering the izula you might look at the 2 just because the handle is slightly longer and more comfy on the Izula 2. Other recommendations would be the BK Necker, Bark River neck knife, and if your just looking for something on the cheap get a Mora

The most affordable customs are little neck knives, might be something to check out.

X2
I want an izula but how can I buy one when there are so many nice handmade, one of a kind custom knives for sale right here in the form. I was looking at my collection and I own all production folders, and all my fixed blades are customs.

Check out the snody boss
