ESEE Junglas Coating?

I just picked up a used (VERY used) Junglas off of eBay a couple of weeks ago. Looking at the coating, it looks and feels pretty different from the coating on my other ESEE knives, which are all pretty much the same (I have an Izula, 4, 5, and 6). I'm wondering if this is an older version of the Junglas, if ESEE puts a different coating on the Junglas, or if this is just what the coating starts tomorrow look like over time or after significant use. Anybody know? I was thinking about etching the logos and lettering, so I'm wondering if the process will still work with this coating. I took the scales off to apply some tuff glide and the coating looks and feels the same under the scales as the rest of the blade.
