I recently picked up an ESEE Junglas and thought there could be more ESEE fans in the Cantina. Before I bought one, I kept trying to figure out how big it was in comparison to my choppers and never really could. So I thought I'd post a pic of it with my 19" M-43 and 16.5 " WW II. Take care.

Much thinner than HI.

that Junglas is just a beast. It's just a bit biger than the RTAK II
Nice collection!! play nice with the junglas...They bite

Nice looking chunk of steel. How does it work for you?

Unfortunately, I haven't done anything with it yet. I can tell you I'm much more comfortable with the thought of beating wood into submission with a thich khuk than the Junglas. I'm sure that will subside some once I begin to use it. The video proof of Junglas strength is convincing. Though watching how long it takes to chop through a log with it makes me believe it's better as a big knife/big slicer/heavy duty machete than a true chopper. It has incredible balance and seems like it would have been a great fighting knife back on the Mississippi River Delta 150 years ago. I like it a lot, but believe it will see lighter duty than my khuks. It should make a superb hiking blade at 22 oz. and it does have just about the best sheath I've ever seen. Extremely secure and versitile. The handle is also top notch. Overall it's really a very nice package. For some reason I can't wait to slice fajitas with it! Thanks for looking guys. I hope this helped give some HI kooks and idea of how it compares sizewise. Once I use it, I'll try to update with some field comparison info. Take care.

I had one for about a year when it was still under the RTAK name, and it was a very well-built knife. I needed to raise $ for Salyan's so ended up selling it.

However I had a great collection of solid HI knives, and had trouble seeing the utility (hah! I know, as if that mattered when buying knives. ;)) of it when the combination of a good khukuri and 4-5" belt knife seemed to cover most of the bases.

However, it is well made and very sharp, and would make a good camp knife for sure.

Regards,

Norm

Norm, I can't justify most of my purchases. My M-43 and my ESEE 4, or HEST, are actually a perfect combo for anything I could encounter, even end of the world stuff! The Junglas is very cool and I just couldn't resist anymore. It didn't hurt that ESEE has a great LE/Gov. purchase program. Take care.

I don't think I can justify most of my knife purchases.
I have a Junglas.
Now having obtained it, it looks to me like it would make a great butcher / food prep knife.
