I look forward to the review Brian.

I generaly prefer my 10" knives to be thicker and of a tougher steel than 1095. Most of my blades that size are 5160. Though I have one in A2.

It'll be interesting to see if the lighter weight of this blade hurts it's chopping ability.

Good to see you again Bro! I like the looks of that one!

Rick. It isn't that I don't think 1095 is a tough steel. In fact it is one of my favorites for the quality of the edge it takes. However most of my experience has been with smaller blades made of the steel.

I have seen a couple of reviews of the Junglas that are impressive from what I've seen so far. Plus a couple makers I've found here on the forums are making large forged blades from 1095.

I'm just more familiar with 5160 in large blades. I'm interested due to the fact I'd like a large blade with better edge characteristics than 5160.

just got one! i love it man! it's big, beefy, comfy in hand, and has a great sheath with adjustable retention and a drop leg panel. i cant wait to get out n about to give it a real work out! -fed

Heck with the junglas, who is this Brian guy????? Glad to see you again brother! How's life? Ok, now that you've been properly greeted, break out the KNIFE!

Judging by the name it's made for chopping light vegetation where speed and accuracy are most necessary. If the weights not there it's because it wasn't designed to plow through tree trunks:D Personally I'd go for a battle mistress or dogfather for that anyway.

If I have to choose between reading a review with no pictures vs. seeing a nice picture without a review, I will gladly choose the picture. Thanks for posting this. I look forward to your review.

Ok, I could have gone without seeing this picture. I won't read the review.

In Brian's defense, that pic was taken after a looong night of drinking and hanging out with a bunch of WSSers in New England. We have that effect on people:o

Dude...I think that after bringing that picture back from the past...Marcelo can post any goofy ass pics of you he wants.LOL:thumbup::D
I had one serious hangover after that fine evening.

That's a defense? Don't worry. I didn't think he always looks like that.

LOL, Tony. Kev took a pic and I told him to take another so I could do that face. Forgot he might post it. ;)

LMAO. Troll along, now.

Mike, I thought it was fairly heavy for 3/16", with that wide blade and all. My Basic 9 is ~7oz. lighter with its stick tang, even though it has a 1/4"x9 13/16" blade, and the BRK golok is a little longer, but 5.5oz. lighter. Wonder where the balance point on the Junglas is?

Good to see you Brian and looking forward to your review. At this moment, I've pretty much written off 9-10" choppers as tools for me. Give me a machete though and I'll have a big smile on my face. Hope you get a chance to check out the ESEE/Condor collaboration. Its mighty fine!
