esee knives???

What will be the main use of the knife I have used the esee 3 before seems good but I prefer the slightly larger blade of the esee 4 if I had to choose.

I have owned both as well and prefer the 4 because its slightly longer and thicker.

It depends on your local knife laws and what you will be using it for----- if its for EDC, prob the 3 is best. If its for hiking, camping, hunting, etc. the 4 is best.

The 3 can do anything they 4 can do short of batoning a 1/2 inch thicker piece of wood. I have owned both and used them both hard and often, I now only own the 3.

With the choices presented, I prefer my 4. But I really like my 6! Yes, my 4 is more practical but I still really like my 6! Just go with the 4.

I have both. The 3 is a nice knife, but it is on the small side if you are going to be doing any "heavy lifting" with your knife. I am sure the 3 could do anything the 4 could do, but the 4 is a thicker, a bit heavier and has a longer blade so it makes me feel a bit more confident about throwing the "heavy lifting" at it.

My one minor complaint about the 4 is the handle does seem a bit small for such a large blade, but in use it has never been an issue.

I like the feel of the kydex sheath of the 4 better than the molded plastic sheath of the 3, but only when holding them side-by-side.

They are both nice knives...you should get both!

You can't go wrong with either. A lot of people prefer the 4 because it is thicker. I prefer the 3 because it is thinner. It is a slicing machine! I don't have any other knife that comes close to the 3 in a paper-slicing contest. If you are going to be doing some hard use stuff, like prying or cross-batoning or something than go with the 4. If you are going to be doing more carving, slicing, and cutting, get the 3.

I had the same experience.

The '4 is heavier, but really can't do more.

Buy whichever feels the best in your hand.

I prefer the choil-less 5

An ESEE 3 and 6 would make a pretty nice set up. If you only want one I would go with the 4 for a general camp knife, if that's what you're going to use it for.

I love both the 3 and 4 but I always tend to grab the 3 to take out with me because I carry a larger fixed blade also.
The 3 slices so well and cuts through wood easily for bushcraft tasks. It also feels more comfortable in hand than the 4 for me and I like the blade shape a little better for a lot of tasks.
Can't go wrong with either though really so maybe both!
