someone tell Randall to get on it...

i know there are companies like HI that make bulletproof kukris, but those are SUPER heavy for backpacking.
i know i could just get a cold steel, but there warranty and quality sucks compared to esee.

imho, i think an esee kukri would be a great practical product.

They (Jeff/Mike) aren't big kukri fans as far as I know, so I doubt it'll ever happen. They've been asked about making a kukri for years now.

Try out the Condor Kukri.
It's a 13" blade, and only 1/8" thick, so it's light enough to carry, and still packs a wallop for chopping.
Mine came stunningly sharp, and I'm extremely pleased with it.
I think it's tough to beat Condor for choppers these days.

Affordable too.

+1 on the condors, they also have a "heavy Kukri" coming out this year as well which is 1/4" thick blade I think, saw it on one the the shot show youtube vids.

Condor Heavy Kukri, Becker BK4, KaBar kuks, even the Cold Steel Kukri machetes are all good choices.

KaBar has a special on the BK4 for BladeForums members right now, check out the Becker forum for details

Esee will never produce another large knife. We'd all love to see a kukri or similar big blade but its not going to happen.

I hate to say never but Ive seen too many threads where Jeff isn't interested. It sure would be awesome though.....

I know they're too behind on stuff right now to even thinking about adding anything new anyhow. :D

I just checked out the Condor Kukri Machete. Wow, it looks pretty sweet! The handle has a more sculptured but traditional look, it has a cho, and nice lines. A 1/4" thick version that looks identical would probably be perfect!! :)

I was talking to Rick just the other day and he was saying that he hasn't heard anything to the contrary regarding mid-next month for a release date. Seems like things are going to schedule. :)

I'm not sure what you expect ESEE to do that HI can't/hasn't done. I have one from them at 18oz and I've seen them with lighter ones. Any lighter then all you have is a crooked knife that isn't much good for anything.

ESEE isn't going to produce a Kukri. At least, not in the foreseeable future. As others have said, look at the Condors and Ka-bars. I've been waiting for the new Kukri from Condor, myself. The 5/16 version.

Note that KA-BAR has the Becker BK4, as already pointed out by Spark, their longstanding Toooj-handled kukri, and has the new-release traditional handled Combat Kukri coming out soon.

Give this one some thought too. Ontario Spec-Plus Kukri.

I modified the sheath with a D-ring swivel snap & a belt keeper, for a drop leg set up.
