This information is featured on the ESEE knives boxes.
Just found it to be wrong. 1 pace = 0.762 meters, therefore 66 paces will be 50.292 meters.
I may be petty, but I'm just getting iffy when people post wrong information pretending to have survival usefulness.

Yup, that seems more than just a little off.

Then again, I would never use information on a "survival card" to guide me through reality.

It's not wrong. A pace is two steps, and they even indicate that on the card.

Ha - I missed that as well. I just always assumed a "pace" to be one step. But yes, if it's two steps, then it seems reasonably accurate, though of course it's still just an approximation.

😁 It's all good!

It's kinda silly info to put on a card, as this is pretty basic stuff...but I guess if a person is in shock it might be good to have it.

Yeah I always took Pace as two normal steps.

Wouldn't make sense to only record a one step pace unless you're one legged of course.

So, last night I sent it also to the main contact email on Esee knives' website and believe it or not in 7 min Jeff Randall Himself answers me from his personal email with clarification what is meant by a "pace" - the old way of forest rangers measuring distance with a pace counter. He was very detailed and well-argumented, so what can I say, I lost this one. He's right. And judging by the reaction time, he also won another lifetime customer. I was just perplexed, no other knife maker's president checks office emails from customers at 8 pm!

Thanks for the follow-up - glad you got a good response, and appreciate you sharing it here.

I took their land navigation course (aka Orienteering) and they cover all of this. As you all might suspect, the pace count for a given distance is an approximate average. We did pace counts in the course and they definitely varied between long and short legged people.

Jeff Randall is a good man. I highly recommend their knives and training courses.
