Hey, I was wondering what you thought would be a better military knife, a benchmade 710 or an esee 4. I plan on going infantry if that matters.

I'm not sure wich will be more usefull for what i will be doing. I have heard nothing but good things about either one so it just boils down to which willl fit the situation.

First off thanks for joining the Army and serving our fine Nation. Now during basic they will not allow you to have at all. You may be able to get away with a small folder while in basic if you keep it under wraps. During AIT they lighten up a little and you could get away with a Leatherman wave or something like that. The only time you will be able to carry your fixed blade is during field exercises or if deployed. If that were the case I would say the ESEE 4.

Thanks for the thanks georgia guy, but i haven't joined yet. Im going to school right now so i can join as an officer, but until then I wanted to get a good knife that i would be able to take with me. It would also be my edc, and weight is no issue for it. thanks.

ESEE 4, easier to sharpen and less things can go wrong with it, whereas the 710 has that recurve thats a pain to sharpen, especially when you dont have materials to sharpen with besides for the undersides of porcelain sinks or urinals (im just assuming youre going to Iraq or Afghanistan. I hear guys complain about how they have nothing to sharpen their knives on so they take desperate measures lol...).
Hope this helped :D
