ESEE Zancudo: Is It Really ESEE?

I was looking at an online knife retailer and came upon a folding frame lock knife in their ESEE section called the Zancudo. However, ESEE's website has no information on it. What is the deal? Is it a blatant rip off, or a collaboration ESEE isn't advertising/recognizing on their site?

The knife is shown with the Randall's Adventure Training logo on the blade and the ESEE box. There are photos of the knife and credit for those photos is given to Jeff Randall. It looks nothing like the folding Izula prototype on ESEE's website though.

Knife Type: Folder
Blade Type: Drop Point
Blade Thickness: .125"
Origin: Taiwan
Total Length: 7" Open
Blade Length: 3" / 2.75" Cutting Edge
Handle Material: Black G10 and Stainless Steel
Blade-Steel: AUS-8 Stainless Steel
Rockwell Hardness: 57-59 RC
Lock Type: Frame Lock
Closed Length: 4"
Clip: Yes / Tip Up or Tip Down Carry

It said Blue Ridge Knives. So that means it wouldn't have the ESEE warranty I assume?

It's an ESEE knife, so I am assuming that they will stand by their warranty on it. Ka-bar does for their Taiwanese blades.

No. It is an ESEE (Mike and Jeff) DESIGNED knife, but it is not an ESEE knife. It was contracted by Blue Ridge Knives, and they are considered the owner/producer.

There's a thread about it on the esee forum. Esee designed it for blue ridge knives and blue ridge makes it.

Seeing how rowen makes the "real"esee's.....no different than how ontario used to make the real esee or rats as they were called back then....this little folder is jot much different in being a feal esee. My logic is...if esee boys designed it and whoever makes it makes it well.....its good to go just like any esee. Now those rowens are really good so im not comparing maker to maker. Rather any esee design that is made well is a real esee...imho. as usual ymmv...and im good with that.

Well, ESEE says that it isn't an ESEE. It isn't backed by ESEE, and ESEE has nothing to do with distribution of it.

It isn't an ESEE.

This. :)

It looks like a real nice knife, though, as I'd expect coming from those guys.
