First, I know this question will get me some flak, and people will tell me to the junglas, but I will explain why I do not want a junglas. So if you are thinking of posting that, please don't.

Ok I was thinking of getting a ESEE6 for my "LifeAlert" bag (You know, help I've fallen and I can't get up? :p It's like arealistic survival bag for hikes. Heavy on the FAK and the clothing, so knife space/weight is limited.)

My question is can the ESEE6 do light chopping? I know this is not its not a real chopper, but once I cut a green tree to make a baton with, I can use it to baton down trees, for shelter or fire. I remember before the Junglas or Lite Machete came out, where this was the big question, and I cannot remember the consensus.

So anyone who owns a 6 and has used it for light chopping, would you please weigh in here? Thanks!

Yep, sure can. You can actually get a far-back grip on the 6 and the light weight and speed you can swing it at actually acts like a mini-machete on greener materials especially. You will be good to go. Buy it.

No problem .... The 6 is the most versatile to me in the lineup

If you 6 you really mean 4, I agree with you. :D

The 6 really is probably the most universal. I'll be honest when I got mine I was kind of "that's kind of cool" but after using it I really started to like it a LOT. Large blade but not really heavy.

Not a great pic but you can see what I'm talking about. The left side of this piece was chopped with the 6. I stood it on end and used downward swings to take out large chunks at a time. Worked great.

I grabbed an extra 6 ( half-serrated) for my oops kit. I already had a PE one and decided to try a serrated. It's really a great knife either way. As far as 6" knives go , it's fair sized overall and does chop surprisingly well. I didn't buy mine for specific use as a chopper, but as an all-around knife and it truly excels at the role. Get your hands on one, you'll love it ! :)

yea, it'll work. not great but it'll do it for what you need. Toss a wrist lanyard on it, and choke back a little and it makes a nice little snap chopper.

I like the 6 a lot. Very versatile, easy to choke up on, and not as thick as the 5 so while it's maybe not quite the same tank that the 5 is, it's easier to cut with due to thin profile.

Absolutely - I've chopped down large saplings with mine no prob - go for it - excellent knife in all regards - I had a couple dings in my edge after a run in with some gravel or maybe it was a factory wire edge but either way sharpened right out no problem - now practicing my skills getting it back to shaving sharp with dmt aligner...almost there!
