Eskabar Scales?

Hey everyone,
Happy New Years and Merry Christmas!
Are eskabar scales worth the money?
And what advantages do they have over regular cord wrapped handle?
Thanks,

I love my custom G10 scales, they've replaced the aluminum ones i was using.
The scales don't get dirty or soak up stuff like a cord wrap -- say, if you're dressing out small game of gutting a fish.
they fill the hand better - so less hand fatigue when using the knife for an extended period of time.
OTOH, they're not as grippy or cushy as a good paracord wrap.
as to whether or not they're worth the cost, that's up to you and how you use your knife.
There's also nothing wrong with making your own set out of wood or other materials (including homemade "mycarta")

I started out with a paracord wrap on my Eskabar and loved it.
Unfortunetly, the paracord does absorb everything in comes in contact with, which didnt bother me until I cleaned a few fish, then got motoroil on it, then grease from a cookout. It got pretty funky. After changing out the paracord a few times, I was gifted a set of micarta Izula scales and never looked back! I do EDC my eskabar, so that explains why it got so nasty so quickly. If you dont use it often, I think paracord is an excelent idea. But for everyday use, something less absorbant is the way to go.

I just purchased an EsKabar from Hotbossa. It came with a custom green kydex sheath, MercHarness, and the handle was bare. I used the black paracord included to wrap the handle and absolutely love how it looks, and it carries oh-so-comfortably and unobtrusively. Admittedly, I have an older Delica that I use for most of my daily knife-necessary chores, so the EsKabar stays clean.

Regards

Adding scales to the Eskabar is definitely worth it but just wait 17 days and Becker issue scales will be available. They'll drop right in and should look pretty cool.... not that I've seen pics but the description from KaBar is "black & orange".

black OR orange in the set. two handle pairs. $10, or so i'm told.

so, wait, or not.

the custom ones i have do not suck though :) solid metal :)

i even bought two more in clear acrylic (need to put trititum in there), and black (g10?)

but the kabar ones are a good thing for sure

Ah, good to know. Can't beat 10.00ish... should look great. Solid metal wouldn't work here (AZ) but the acrylic ones are great.

I got my scales, how do they look???

I want to pick up a pair, but I may make that lanyard hole bigger when I get my hands on 'em.
