ok so i had the bk12 and the eskabar. i like the eskabar far better but why is it i cant get it shaving sharp??? its like the factory edge stays then once its gone there is not hope for the edge. anyone have suggestions. iv tried metal and stones along with a belt sander none of these will even make the knife paper slicing sharp. its like the steel is too hard.
also i might add im a decent sharpener i keep all my knives shaving sharp with no prob. also i have made a few knives out of saw blades and i get them shaving sharp also

I had the same problem. In my situation, there were two causes. One, the sheath. I'm sure it's been discussed on here so I'll spare you the redundancy. Two, the grind angel. Everything that I read said that it had a 15 degree angle but mine wouldn’t hear of it. I put it on a set 25 degree crock sticks and now it sends arm hair running for fear of life. Weird, I know.

yea heard about sheath thats not my prob a cant get it sharp for the sheath to dull it lol. i just changed the grind angle to about 25 so i will see if that helps when i get done sharpening it

I also had this problem on my B11. I tried my whet stones sander up to . I must have sharpened that thing 6 times total and the edge finally took the last time. man that was frustrating. I almost contacted kabar to see if it was a bad heat treat or something but I finally got it. I still have no idea what i did differently.

well its shaving sharp now i re profiled it and then stropped it takes the hair off with no prob!
