Obviously the topic should say Blade Show not blade shoe (HMMMMM what an interesting concept a blade hidden in a shoe.....)
Anyway......
If someone has an ESM-1, perhaps they can tell me the difference between the ESM-1 and the Commanders Ernie made up for the blade show with his custom ground "Emerson Specwar Knives" blade. What are the handles made of on the ESM-1? And how are they finished? Are the edges milled(like those on the production Commanders)? I have seen some pictures of the ESM-1 with a naturan finis steel blade but the detail of the handles is tough to make out. Thanks guys.

"Unusual suspect"

I think the ES1-M is just a longer Commander. If memory serves, the Commander was originally called the ES1-C (for Civilian, vs the "M" for Military). I believe the ES1-M has an inch-longer blade. Other than that and the fact that it's a "custom", I think they are pretty identical aren't they? I hope some of the "Usual Suspects" out there who have both can comment...

I'm pretty sure that the ESM-1 has a four inch blade and basically has the same style G-10 blades as the Commander (except for the added length). as for the commanders at the show, sounds line Emerson hand ground some commander blades and put them in production handles.

No fancy custom differences here. Only size. As I understand it, this one was designed as a "user" for the military. Handles are basic, no-frills G10.

Here's the deal:
ES1-M is approx. 20% Bigger period.
Handles are same configuration only bigger dimensionally. Blade is Wider and Beefier profile as well. Ernie and I joked once at his house that it (ES1-M) "Looked like it was on Steroids compared to the Civilian model".
Hope that helps
