Hello Everyone,
This is my first post and mainly joined to find out the following. I own 3 Espada's large to small. They all have the aluminum butt end. I know the forum does not allow talk of price but I would like to find out if they are still made?

Yes, they are still available
Write Cold Steel Espada in your browser search box
And enjoy

I believe the extra large and large are still being made but I don't think the small or medium size is. What steel are the blades made from?

Mine is aus 10 a keep it lightly oiled. It will Rust. I use mineral oil you can find it in your laxative Isle of the pharmacy

The steel is not written on any of the three knives. I still have the box from the small Espada, it has nothing about the type of steel. The only thing it has on the end of the box is #62NM (medium). It is the smallest Espada I own they were purchased in 2014 - 2015.

Only steel will rust. Mine do not have a speck of rust anywhere, the covers on the front of the handle and rear are aluminum with g-10 in between.

No rust, no steel, no stamps ...
Maybe you got plastic fakes :^D

Looks like 2015 was the last year for the medium size with aluminum bolsters, and 2016 was the last year for the medium size in full G10. If not marked, steel is most likely AUS 8A.

No Fakes I went and looked up what steel the Espada's blades are made from. It is either AUS10A or S35VN. Mine are older so I believe they were made out of AUS10A. The small (medium) is not made anymore and I have 2. They are marked Cold Steel on one side and Espada on the opposite. I had my name engraved with the year on all.

They weren't using AUS 10A back in 2014-15...they were AUS 8A.

Edit: They used CTS XHP in 2015, but that definitely would have been marked.

What makes you think stainless steel don't rust? It stains less it's not stain proof

Aus8 and aus10 rust! XHP massively! the only ones that don't are the 4034 4116 (what I would consider MY normal use)

Almost any steel can rust, but Aus8 and Aus10 are highly rust resistant. Like any knife or tool, it should be cleaned after use and lightly oiled. Like the poster above, I use mineral oil so it is food safe.
