Hi Guy's (and Gal's). I just bought the new Esse Avispa after seeing Knifeworks AD here on BF. I never thought about getting one but just bought on impulse,'you know the feeling'. First time I've ordered from Knifeworks and their service was excellent! I ordered on the weekend, and the order was processed immediately. Had the knife in three day's. Just wanted to give them a 'well done'...... Now the knife. Esse did an outstanding job on this knife. It's not just a nice knife 'for 28.00, it's a nice knife period! Perfect centering;perfect lock-up;perfect detent; and razor sharp edge. CONS; The nylon scale looks a little cheap, but I'll just pimp it a little and it will be fine. I very rarely buy low end knives simply because they often have some annoying flaws and the low price doesn't make it any less annoying. So just thought I'd share what turned out to be a very pleasant deal. If you were thinking of picking one up, I hope this review help.

I wish they did this in a 3.5 blade. That would have given me a reason for buying it. Why buy a rat 1 with a frame lock and slightly different blade shape ?

Not to troll... It is a nice looking knife if there wasn't a rat 1 in my collection I might jump on it.

I got my Avispa yesterday, feels great in the hand. I have XL hands and the size of the handle is very good, not to big and not to small. I must say ESEE did a great job on this knife along with the company that actually made them.

Another thing I like about is the tip down position. All my folders are tip up, and I was going to change it but found that the clip lies right in the meat of my index. Being that the knife is so thin, it kind of makes it feel a little thicker. It actually feels pretty good.

I agree. It's a value for sure, but especially for the $30ish price. Mine came pretty much perfect as well, which I'm especially impressed by considering I've had knives costing 5 times as much that weren't so well put together or sharpened from the factory.

I finally had a chance to use mine a bit the other day to cut up some cardboard for the hurt barrel. The Avispa cut like a laser and held its edge much better than expected.

I couldn't be more pleased with this knife, and I hope to see more offerings from ESEE and Blue Ridge Knives in the future!

Yea that is one wicked sharp edge! I've been cutting up notebook paper for two days now. I love the 'zip' sound it makes.:D

I like mine so much, planning on getting at least 2 more, the desert tan and coyote brown versions. Again, great job ESEE.

1. $28.00 and some change price.
2. Good size knife for most pocket knife tasks.
3. AUS 8 steel, great but not over priced.
4. Blade on center.
5. Blade razor sharp, big patch of hair gone off my leg now.
7. solid lock up.
8. Feels good in the hand.
9. I need more!
