My buddy and I are sitting at the Moose talking swap meets and knives . He’s always on the lookout for Bucks for me. He collects esso stuff and the question came up whether a 110 had either scale or blade have ever been embossed with esso on them. If so, any pics?

Edit: If not a 110, any Buck?

I don't know of etches before the latter 70's. Was Esso around then or had they become Exxon. This is all just an educated guess. I remember Esso but I don't remember them when I started to drive. That was 1975, or at least when I got my license to drive...

I was maybe 6 or 7, I would guess when it changed. That would make it 72-74 range. That’s if my memory serves, which is unlikely

I’m an idiot. I’m sitting here next to a collector and he definitely says 1972. I should have asked him right away. I guess that would rule out 110.

Eastern States Standard Oil. One of ExxonMobile's trade names. Still used world wide and in Canada but in the States was replaced by the Exxon and Mobile names in 1972. That means the trade name was no longer used in the US years before we start seeing advertising 110's. In 1977 we see Monroe and Champion branded 110's which I suppose to be about the first. The closest I could get to ESSO was an EXXON model 503 in 2001. Missed the EXXON 112 mentioned by bucksway. In 110's I found an ARCO, Phillips66, and a Texaco. Also a Quaker State 422 and a 503 CONOCO. I don't have a single one of them. I did pass on a CONOCO recently for $$$ reasons.

The 112 had something to do with a offshore platform or plant safety award ..I think I seen it in 2008 but at the time I passed because it was over my budget. I had not learned then some knives you might get one chance..
