I went to an estate sale and picked these knives up. I like to buy knives that need restoration and bring them back to being useable. I got these home and did an internet search to learn about them.
The first picture is the “Forgecraft Hi-Carbon” knives. They date back to the 50’s and 60’s from what I read on a kitchen knife forum. It’s sort of a before and after picture, the one in the middle is the way they all looked when I got them. A little restoration and they came out real nice. Hi carbon blades sharpened up easily.
The other knives are ”Barclay Forge.” They have 1985 written on the cardboard blade covers. Online info I found on these seems to be pretty positive. Considering these knives ranged in price from 50 cents to $3, I think they were worth the price. Now I have to see if they pass my wives rigid standards for use in her kitchen, or if they go in the container with all the other estate sale knives I have brought home that she rejected!!
Anyone else have experience with these knives?
Thanks
Cosmo
