Hey guys thanks for looking, and maybe helping:rolleyes:

sheath black leather. C
packaging 2 piece yellow box about 2" high use and care leaflet dated 4/4/72
white tissue, "attention" leaflet orange

Sheath
buck on snap and flap, plain belt loop, (footnote, word BUCK on snap seems to be upside down...)

question simply is what is it value (includes box, exterior of box is a little rough but not beat to death)

I may want to trade it out here on the forums but want to get an idea of value and if I do sell I don't want to have to subject myself to fleabay

not for sale now since I am not a Gold member, if I do decide to sell I will upgrade in all fairness to the board...

thanks...

Hard to say, and I'm never correct on pricing but I'll give it a whirl. You can pick those up with no box and in nearly unused condition for less than 30 bucks if youre patient. It seems to be the most common vintage 110 that I see. In the box unused, I think I would pay 45-50 without a problem, doubt if I would go higher.

cool, thanks, gives me a basis to work with, also helps me decide if I want to keep as a user, would have to take and start beating on it to find out it is worth over a hundred bucks, thanks much for the reply...

JL

for 39.95 buy a user at a box store..
yes it would be a good user but
nice shape with the org box and stuff..
would save it
and find a year marked one at a yard sale for a user..
JMHO.. like my sig line ..

probably good advice, will probably put this one out for trade for someone who will appreciate it
if anyone has a Buck/TOPS - CSAR-T they wanted to trade, I would......JL

If you want a 110 for a user, and if you didn't pay much for it,why not use the one you have ?
Its not like they are expensive or really rare. I'm kinda funny though, I like to use older knives.
Unless you are going to beat it up and abuse it, it will last many years with normal use. Thats what they made them for

440c thats a little diff. they usu. use 420hc I think that 440c would be a little better steel!might have something there.

I paid up to $50 for a var 3 and that wasn't NIB, could be more like $75- 100 if you ask me. Check out what they are finishing at on the bay. It will give you a good idea of where you stand. NIB means alot to collectors.

Here's my take on this subject. I think if the OP wants a good user, I'd trade off this one to someone (and there are plenty of us around) that like to have the older ones that are new in the box.

It just seems a shame to use it for everyday when there are those that would like to have it as new and keep it that way. New in the box, they are way more attractive to many collectors than those that are used. After all, they aren't making those anymore!

Buck used 440C on all their knives mfg. from 1961-1981 . It is a better steel . Then I agree w/ Plumber . DM

Understood Dave and a valid point. I guess my way of looking at things changed, when I went from someone who mainly owned safe queens, to someone who found that there was much more enjoyment to be had (for me ), by carrying and using the older stuff. I use to make people cringe when I was collecting old Winchesters (late 1800's- early 1900's), because I would take them to the range and shoot them :D

But having been there and done that, with knives and guns that are unused and come with all the goodies, I certainly understand people that enjoy that aspect of collecting.

Mike, I understand your view point to an extent but the OP doesn't seem to care for the 110 one way or the other. He's looking more for a trade for something that he likes such as a Csar.

There just have to be 1000's of used ones out there (probably many more than that) for every unused one, so why use it? You can always turn a new one into a user, but you can't turn a user back into a new one. It may not be really that rare, but the more of the unused ones that get used, the more rare they will become.

I kinda think of it as similar to a rifle I have. It was given to me in 1995 by my best friend. It's a brand new in the box, pre-64 Winchester Model '94, complete with tags and paperwork that he found at an estate sale. It's never had a round even put in the magazine, much less chambered or fired. My Buddy is a shooter, not a collector, so he figured that someone should have it that would keep it new. He has plenty of used "shooters" and so do I, so it will remain pristine.

Like I said, they aren't making them anymore.

I'd have to go with the $85 range on that.

Should go for more, but the economy dictates less....might end up at $75 or even a little less.

Keep it, you won't regret it years from now when you can drag it out and show it around or give it as a gift.

I'm not kidding.

You guys should be on a debate team ;)

I still go with 338, I really enjoy using them, BUT being that I completely missed the whole CSAR post, yeah probably better to trade it off... BUT, Dave, if it gets used, that just helps out the guys with the NIB stuff right! :D LOL

Then you have two classes, the haves and the have-nots. This opens up an avenue for organized crime in black marketeering, fraud, theft, counterfeit; and wars between those who have and don't have. ;)

You can see how seriously I'm taking all this. :D

But Really, if you own it, it's yours and you get to choose what you do with it. :)

Dave's point is correct, it can go from new to used, but it can't go back.

I missed the part about him wanting something else, like a CSAR. You make a valid point Dave, and I understand completely...

Congrats on the 94. They are terrific rifles, and the pre-64's are very hard to find with the box, tags and papers.

I would sell your buck and throw in a little and get that knife if you wanted a great knife to use or collect. I have been drolling over that knife for some time. If I would have not just bought that Tops/Buck colaboration I would definatly get that knife. Much more usefull than that Brand new never used Tops/Buck Csar-T or what ever they call that use-less monster. I do not know if I am out of place here but all I will say is I do not want it anymore. }:-)
