I keep reading threads regarding Wetterlings vs Gransfor Brux axes and how marvelous they are, but what about estwing? I currently have a fiskars hatchet, a CS trailhawk and just bought the estwing campers (26") axe. I have barley had a chance to put it to use, but my first impressions are that it is quite a quality axe, came pretty sharp, full steel construction and the tool leather sheath is a big plus as well. The only con that initially comes to mind is the wieght (4.5lbs).

Who has one? any pro and cons to discuss before I get out there and put it to good use?

I've had a leather-handled Estwing axe for many, many years. It's a good, tough axe and easy to sharpen.

i like mine, effective and tough but the wooden and poly handles are more comfortable when you want to choke up on the head.

For the price you cant beat them... I have the hatchet and the campers axe and for some reason they get lost your not out boo coo bucks...

Thanks for all of your replies. It looked like a good axe for the money ($40) and that is why I went ahead and grabbed it. I needed something bigger than a hatchet for camp use and it should prove to be worthy.

i just put mine on the new belt sander. now it's a robust razor. all of a sudden i miss my wetterlings hatchet a lot less.
