Saw one in the back of a harware store with the stacked leather handles. $29.99 seemed cheap enough. The attention to detail is not what it used to be. (paint on handle, grind uneven) So, I'll take it by the older guy with the sharpening shop on my way to work and have him re-grind it.
Anyone else have one? I've always liked their hammers.

I have the Axe, I have had it for years. One mistake I made was to pull the handle sideways to remove it from a chunk of wood, it bent and has never been the same.
As my interest in higher end or hand made axes increases I have learned to put an edge on pretty much anything, the Estwing holds an edge fine for an inexpensive tool.
I love the way they look, very attractive tools.

Thanks. The old guy at the sharpening shop has had one for years also. Actually most people I've asked have one stashed in their garage, motorhome, etc. Same story. They had it for years. Nice they are still made in the US

Their axes are definitely worth the money. A buddy of mine ( a machineist) bought the large axe, knocked out it's temper, hammered it flat on one side, reprofiled the edge, and retempered it. (he made himself a little broad/ hewing axe for squaring logs/ timber. It came out very well.
