Been looking at the Estwing Black Eagle hawk and wondering about the tang under the rubber grip. Is it the same tang all the way down or does it change shape? Seems like it would be a great base to do some modding if it is. G10 slabs or something. Anybody done any mods to one?

Based on their hammers, I'd say it is, because that's how they've been making tools for decades. I don't have one, but their hammers will last 100 years, and my leather handled hatchet I picked up for $5 has been around for 15 years, but has loose Washers from sitting in a garage for 5 of those years.

Yes they are similar to their hammers and hatchets and they last for a good amount of time

Wow! Just saw a pic of these, and man do they look like something you can mess someone up with. Probably a really fun toy for ages 4+ :D. But in all seriousness, I might have to buy one considering the low prices and quality should I decide to use it for more than sticking trees.
