Not that I expect you guys at Kershaw to be responsible for how the folder was designed but I swapped the clip on my ET to tip down carry in order to do the hole drop technique to open it and have found that with this particular knife this set up makes it much more convenient to use and by far easier to open. Not only easier to open but safer too I might add.

I never thought I'd say it because I am really a tip up kind of guy with clips when I use them but with this folder its much better tip down. Just FYI I think if anyone tried this they'd have to agree because opening this folder the traditional way by using the hole and thumb is not exactly smooth or easy and using the middle or ring fingers to flip it like in the video is a good way to get bit. Since doing this I can actually whip it right out, use it safely and tuck it back in the pocket without issue or concern. It was a simple matter of simply sticking a spare clip from another folder on it and it made all the diff in the world. I've always liked the lock mechanism on this folder and feel its probably as secure and reliable when opened as any out there made today but its bit me so many times that I quit carrying it until the clip flip.

Maybe when I do one of my own I can come up with some creative anodizing. ;) Right now its set up with a ZT clip. It almost looks like ET is stamped on the clip until you look close. :D

Seriously, I like this blade shape and the lock a whole lot. The blade has a nice shape for lots of uses and is really a lot like a Wharny by design which sits well with me, and the folder is fairly lightweight for the footprint considering what handful it is. But my pinky has been cut so many times with this darn blade snapping shut on it while fiddling with it that I finally figured I'd either make it a permanent safe queen or modify it. Glad I did now because it is working out much better. Maybe you should ship it out with a box of bandaids! :D Sorry Thomas, couldn't resist. ;)

By the way, the wife has had a Poliwog for a good while that she really likes and then she fell in love with that Flat Byrd folder when it came out and used it religiously, but since I gave her that Rainbow ET I got her for Christmas last year she has not even used anything else. Yep, its safe to say that the ET is one of a few favorites in my household. We have three of them total, one each for my son, myself and April.

I have got to get one of those.
The position of the clip looks like it belongs there. Nicely done STR.
