I'm looking to see the pro's and con's of the etching method vs. the stamped method of marking your blades. I used search, but didn't get any hits on this issue. Looking for ease of use, cost factors, safety uses, etc. Would appreciate any information you could give. Thanks,

I just bought a Personalizer unit (the from K&G that comes with enough material to last a little while, and the whole thing cost $100. I haven't used it yet, but from the instruction manual it doesn't look too complicated. I looked into several different etching machines, and this one seems to offer the best combination of features and value. I never really considered a stamp, just because I like the looks of an etch better.

What type Knives are you making? Seems to me if you make buckskinner, bowie, or tribal stuff you would want a touchmark. If you are making tactical, high tec and stainless an etched logo would be best. IMHO

Ryan, use the mark mode on the personalizer, not the etch mode. Etch will eat into the steel real deep and it looks lousey. Use the mark mode for about 10 seconds and it will put a nice black clean mark on the steel. I almost messed up a friend's drop point with the etch mode.
