Etchant???

so what's out there for etchant? is there anything thats strong that i can find locally? someone i know (IG) bought out the local supply of ferric chloride. i'm too impatient to order some, is there any hope to find someting or make something from local supplies? or should i just order some from a knife making supply shop?
