I'm a gonna be a layin fer you boy.:grumpy: ;) :D

see, tol' ya, hold out on the pack & you git bit, longer y'all wait the worse yer wuppin's gonna be!

I kept clicking on the thumbnail.

After about 15 minutes, I got tired of it. You got me!

Sweet, Sweet. Up to your usual high standards, guess I can quit layin under the rug at the back o' your carport now.;) :p :D

I wonder if that edge would curl up like Big Bob's Foxy Folly if you were to chop as heavily as possible with it, somehow I doubt it.;) :D
So much for hardening thin edges. ;)

I'm half tempted to inquire to Yangdu about getting one of those there Trisuls. If'en it had a flat guard maybe 5/8"-3/4" wide bent down equally on both sides I'da already jumped on one.:D  :D

If you blued a blade with a mirror polish, would the temper line show? Or do you need to use an FCl etch first, thus dulling the mirror polish?

Why is it in the grass? Have you been using it as a lawn dart?

It should if there is one to see...The Trisul had one but I had a hard time picking it up in a photo  I found that it really does not matter if you blue a mirror polish blade or etch to bring down the polish then blue it...I have done it both ways so when I get a chance I'll post a pic of a few blued H.I blades

Personally, I thought the bluing would turn me on, but somehow the mirror bright polish looks better on a trishul to me. It smacks of Conan and Ancient roads.
The bluing just makes me think of the Army, which is cool, its tactical and all that, but not quite so full of romance...

teehee... i said the "t" word

Yvsa....High standards? Wow! you got me mixed up I am more like Pigpen from Charlie Brown, MoreRR can verify that since he has been to my shack a few times. I'll not be finding out about the roll up since I use axes to cut dry hardened wood  , this be a fighter blade no ? about that!

Hey Danny the good thing about the bluing you can always remove it and bring it back to a mirror polish, when the 2nd one comes in I do a side x side shot of both

Ferric Chloride. Be careful this stuff is toxic and very corrosive. Wear protective gear, and use adequate ventilation. Dispose of waste properly.

Don Fogg's website has some excellent instructions on how to bring out a nice etch with the FeCl. It's more difficult than vinegar and far more tedious than rust remover but the results are worth it - a visible but understated hardened zone and a beautiful mottled gray finish overall. My light users and non-choppers almost always end up with one eventually.

What Bri said about safety. If you cut it 1/4 with water it won't take skin off any more but it will turn it orange. This stuff even stains porcelain if you let it sit for a bit. I don't like the idea of getting it in my eyes, diluted or not.

Sweet? Nice looking piece. I will have one, someday. Thanks for doing the etch; the question had been nagging me for a while.
