hi guys, Dave here from califorinia i have been making knives for a little over a year and am currently working on my first damascus blades (kinda nerve racking grinding on this spendy stuff I' ll say)

any advice on etching 440-c damascus would be greatly appericiated.

i heard phosphoric acid works well?? I got some phosphoric acid echant at lowes but am not sure of the procedure or dilution ratios?

I have heard that wiping off the black residue is necessary and i have also heard it is best to leave it on ??

I have been having trouble getting pcb etchant at radio shack out here in the republic of califorinia.

thanks :D

it is 440 c ss not 410 as it says on the subject block, oops, sorry

410 or 440 stainless steel ? with what? for stainless you will probably have to go to fairly strong solutions of hydrochloric or sulfuric acids .Check the Damasteel website for directions .
