Etching and stripping my blade

I recently purchased a used and abused Benchmade 975 SBK. I can be slightly OCD about the looks of a knife, and as the coating is severely worn in this case, I am seriously considering etching the logo and stripping the blade. I was planning to use Ferric chloride to etch the logos, and then Airline Stripper or Strip Fast to remove the Birdsong Black-T coating. Would this work well? What's the proper way to apply the Ferric Chloride to the blade? If this is done properly, could I then have the blade cerakoted and the logos would still be visible? I also contacted Birdsong to see if they could recoat the blade themselves.

Can't tell you if the logos will be visible of not, but Birdsong's Black T is nothing more than a moly coat with teflon.
Available in spray can from Brownells.
You can do it yourself at home.

Based on my experience with this type of a finish on a pistol, I'd opt for something else. Shows scratches way too easy.. YMMV.
