I just got some blades back from having my name etched on the blade.
The lettering appears rusty...... How do I clean this up????
Steel was ATS-34, some bead blasted, some mirror polished, all look the same.
Are stamps better?

Naval jelly eats rust, you can get it at an automotive supply. Apply it carefully to the area in question, and only to that area if you can. It's a mild corrosive itself, so it will leave a sort of frosted appearance anywhere that it's applied. It can be polished out fairly easily, but the more you polish, the less that etching will show. After you apply the naval jelly, let it sit for 10-20 minutes, then wash it off with dish soap and water. There may be some pitting under that rust, but that can be dealt with seperately.
Hope this helps.
