A video on Ethan harvesting and processing a small tree at the fall Beckerhead Gathering last year with a BK11. This next section is taken from a previous video on batoning with Ethan but I think it warrants another mention.
There is a disclaimer in regards to our warranty and batoning. On an unnamed social media site it was implied we "fear" this type of usage in our knives. Its not that we fear the usage, its that we can't guarantee there won't be problems because of outside factors. This is in regards to a warranty claim; it does not equate to us telling you not to do something. Most if not all of our products can handle this, but we have seen chainsaws that have hit knots, old nails, and other debris hidden from view inside of wood that have done tremendous damage. Though our warranty doesn't replace this product if on the rare occasion it breaks batoning, at the end of the day it is at your discretion and judgement. We know people use our products to baton regardless of the warranty ramifications and want to help make it as safe as possible for you and yours. I'd recommend trying a chainsaw, but as you can guess and verify with a quick search, they are only covered by warranty against manufacturer's defects and generally only for one year from purchase date. Be safe, be smart, and take good care of your BK&T.
