This is a video I did with Ethan showing the how and why of batoning. There is a disclaimer in regards to our warranty. On an unnamed social media site it was implied we "fear" this type of usage in our knives. Its not that we fear the usage, its that we can't guarantee there won't be problems because of outside factors. This is in regards to a warranty claim; it does not equate to us telling you not to do something. Most if not all of our products can handle this, but we have seen chainsaws that have hit knots, old nails, and other debris hidden from view inside of wood that have done tremendous damage. Though our warranty doesn't replace this product if on the rare occasion it breaks batoning, at the end of the day it is at your discretion and judgement. We know people use our products to baton regardless of the warranty ramifications and want to help make it as safe as possible for you and yours. I'd recommend trying a chainsaw, but as you can guess and verify with a quick search, they are only covered by warranty against manufacturer's defects and generally only for one year from purchase date. Be safe, be smart, and take good care of your BK&T.

Very well-said, and completely reasonable

Cool video and great explanation.

Now lets see something with the new Reinhardt Khukri!

Maybe I will give the BK4 another shot. I had one used it twice, I think, and sold it. Probably should have given it a longer trial period due to the learning curve.
Yep, BK4 back on my wish list!

Thanks for the share. Now I know where the sweet spot is. I don't have a 4, yet, but soon, I hope.

Keep pumping out awesome products. All of us love em!

Looks like I need to add a BK4 to my collection!

Awesome Video! Would love to see more with content like this. Maybe a Vid for each Becker BK currently produced.

And did anyone else catch the sharpening choil on Ethan's BK4? I have a first production roll stamped and current production model and both have no choil.

Very interesting. I wonder if he added it himself or if his is a proto?

Looks like a Camllius BK-4. Looks like it doesn't have a swedge and is 1/4 inch stock.

I may be wrong though.

Ah. I think you are right Dresnor. I found a pic of the Cam version and it does look like that one.

I really haven't seen any Cam BK-4's on the secondary market so I wasn't familiar with the changes. Very interesting.

Thanks.

IMO the BK4 is a batoning fool! When you're batoning big stuff with, lets say, a BK9, all of your energy is being distributed along the whole blade, meaning you're just beating on the log, but with the bk4, the energy is on the "Ax' part, and penetrates deep. If that makes sense. :o

Thanks for the video!
