Moose
Thats what she said, probably just so she wouldnt hurt my feelings.![]()
So... seeing how I don't own a necker or a BK14... Can I use something else in its place? For instance, I only own two fixed blades. A BK2, and a Mora clipper. If I can find the time to do this challenge, could I use the mora in place of a necker?
spit coffee on computer...thanksThats what she said, probably just so she wouldnt hurt my feelings.![]()
Now when it says "Wrist sized support beam" I'm assuming you mean that it has to be CUT with the neck knife, not just "oh look a perfect log...yoink" type of thing. Also, does it have to be one of the listed shelter types, lean-to, debris, teepee, or can we use other designs? Are we trying to make the best, practical survival shelter we can, or just demonstrate our skills using a small knife to do big knife jobs? I've always been taught to use natural features, and work with them. Instead of creating a cross-bar for a lean-to by lashing it against two trees, I look for a tree that has fallen against another tree, creating a natural beam, or a hollow behind a log...or a cave etc. Just wondering if this is going to be judged more on knife-skills, or shelter-acquiring/building skills.
So Moose how long do we have to do this? meaning one day a week or however long we want to work on it before Oct 1st ?
Reminds me of the rule of the wrist! from the Boondock saints. Now when it says "Wrist sized support beam" I'm assuming you mean that it has to be CUT with the neck knife, not just "oh look a perfect log...yoink" type of thing.
