This sword is a whopping 36" from blade tip to handle. The idea was that this sword would reach around the opponent's shield.

No idea as to age, but it sure looks like it has been used and cared for lovingly.

Man, Bill, but you're getting some neat stuff lately.

I've seen that one in "Blades & Hilt Weapons" - great coffee table book, no longer in print.

Picture what the Shotelier's opponent was thinking when he saw that thing- "I spent a WEEK making this new shield- why didn't somebody TELL me they had those things!"

Absolutely Beautiful!!!! I love the world of ethnic blades!!!! :D  :D

Bill one of these days I'm gonna have to take some pix of my very small collection and see what you think of it.:D ;)

Sweet, Bill. Say, are you still selling stuff like the old SHah Jahans stuff? any other stuff? It's been a while, but I was sure that you were goin retail.

BTW, whenever I ask this, I get nary a reply...perhaps 5 months of my silence will get me something more than silence in return ;) :)

Are you related to Kieth? Maybe Keeeeth? Or ......?

Yeah I still have all the Shah Jahans stuff. I will be selling it. Some incredible pieces. Just beginning to photograph it as well. Can't decide how to sell the indiviudual pieces. May have one of the fourmites help. He knows who he is. Been busy with other things.

Will post a few pieces next week. Wootz, damascus, modern made pieces, but made by the descendents of the craftsmen who made the old ones. Gold and silver koftgari.

PM me.

It looks kind of similar to a parang ginah.

Yeah, like this? These are one of the real weapons in an Indonesian armory. They almost never fought with keris in Java and Bali. Now the Moro were a whole 'nother story! Bad with a kris!

Yeah, thats what I was thinking of. So the parang ginah's were actually used for fighting? Those sure are interesting. I almost bought one of the damascus versions from Valiant, but I was worried it might have just been a farm tool.

Dont ask me why that would lower its value to me, I dont know myself.

You're posting cool stuff faster than I can dump the rep points on you, Bill.

I've read about these but never seen a picture. Very interesting.

Ginah were used as both a farm tool and a weapon. This one was probalbly more a weapon as it is made with a patterned blade. The farm toold were more crude.
