I am new here and have wanted to sign up for a while (glad I did) so here I am. I have some knives I want to trade/sell and I found out the annoying way that you can't post automatics on eBay or OfferUp. I didn't know this until they deleted my threads and the thing I find most annoying is that there is no contesting their decision and their definitions of the opening/locking/dexterity of these tools are almost gestapo worthy. Anyway, that's a whole rant and the point is that I know for sure now is that I'd rather be talking to knife folk anyways so yin/yang. My biggest question for you seasoned guys is how can you ensure that the person you're dealing with is trustworthy and what can you do to insure your item(s)? Once you settle on a transaction what is the protocol? Id love some feedback ,basically tell me how you would do it and/or how you have done it. Thanks 👍

Well you start out by spending a couple years here showing all your cards before trying to sell and trade.
You can't show anyone your cards on an Internet forum even if they do, you can't ensure they aren't bluffing. I'm not looking for a "sorry noob, ya gotta earn yer place" I'm asking, as a new person to this forum on how it's done. Waiting years is obviously a ridiculous thing to say.

Isn't there anything faster than a microwave?

Read the threads in the Good, Bad, Ugly section of this forum. You will learn a lot.

Dont trade.

Sell, and only accept pay pal goods and services.

Dont rip anyone off, and if someone is unhappy, unwind the deal.

You probably need different account in order to sell here. Otherwise, they should be rules in the Exchange,
most of the rules and stickies are helpful and pretty straight forward .
‘Good luck !

First, welcome to Bladeforums.

Second, here's some important advice for selling knives on Bladeforums-

1. Read the forum rules. ALL the forum rules. Including all the rules pertaining to selling stuff.

2. Buy a "Gold" membership or higher. This is required to sell things on this forum, and it comes with other perks. You can read about paid memberships by clicking on "Paid Subscriptions" in the blue banner at the top of the screen.

As far as how not to get ripped off, that's a big topic, and I'll leave it to people who sell knives on this forum and elsewhere.

First you need to get a Gold membership so you can sell.

Then, take good pictures. For folding knives, a good picture of each side, a picture of the blade centering when closed, and a picture of the lock engagement are what I do, plus a video of the action if it is a flipper and pictures of any defects or damage if it is used.

Then, be clear on your price and method of payment as well as your method of shipping and time frame for shipping.

Then, package securely in a box, padded sufficiently that you can't make it rattle when your shake it, and securely tape all the edges. Pay for insurance at full price.

Then, ship promptly, send your buyer their tracking information immediately, and don't spend the money until they've confirmed receipt and that they're happy with it.

Here are the rules for selling in the “Individual/folding knives”:

As previously stated, upgrade to gold membership or above, read and follow all of the rules, look at some of the other sales, check the reps of buyers and sellers and make sure that you are legal in regard to how and where you ship.

There are no guarantees...that's why we take steps to ensure that we leave as little to chance as possible.
