Etiquette Question - Blade Show Proxy.

So being fairly new to the wondrous world of the Busse family, I have an etiquette question.

Is it acceptable to ask for a proxy?

My work schedule is crazy and due to some recent changes, I'm going to be working the weekend of the blade show. I really wanted to go this year and even have an envelope full of the green stuff with INFI written on the front in sharpie. I've got the bug pretty bad. Bought 6 busse knives + 2 Swamp rats + 2 Scrap Yards.

That being said i am really lusting after one of those new longer HACKS. I know there is one on the exchange right now with coyote handles. Looking for a different handle offering. These were available at Knob Creek but I was unable to attend that show.

it is perfectly acceptable to ask for a proxy. getting one can be tough though. it's all about trust between the two. on the proxy's part, if i get this guy a knife will he pay for it? am i gonna have any trouble shipping it if it's out of country? can i afford to help them out or keep it if i get stood up? there are a lot of varible's involved in a proxy. also kudo's to the people who do proxy.
 
Yes, asking for a proxy isn't a problem, however, once you ask handle all of the details offline.

Is it acceptable to offer a finders fee to the proxy and if its someone who is reputable helping out a relative newcomer to the community would it help to send a M.O. or paypal them some cash to take to the show?
 
Proxy buying is quite common for all the major shows. It doesn't seem out of bounds to offer a finders fee, although I have not heard of it before. What you and your buyer work out is your own business. On the trust issue, in the old days if a proxy buyer got stuck with a knife ( rare event, I think ), it was easy to unload on the Exchange. That may not be the case now, with the market awash in INFI.

I hear you on the longer HACK, my proxy at KC was too late for one. I did get the shorty, but it was too fat for my taste, and I let it go at cost; so at least another Busse fan will be able to enjoy it.
 
who's headed to the knob creek next year in 1997? I'm looking for a proxy.
 
2017 Blade Show was a serious showcase of mad Chinese proxying. As in full tables taken in some cases. Crazy...

Well the maker I'm following isn't THAT popular, someone made a vid interviewing them and there was barely anyone around. It would be easy for someone to go there early and buy from them.

Blade was in early June...you missed that too.
Please think twice on bumping a completely outdated thread. When it's this old with no activity, just start a fresh thread, please.

Sorry I didn't know it was against the rules or that it would reopen the thread... also isnt there a blade show in October? No disrespect, just curious. Also if I started a thread for a proxy where do I post it?

1.) I didn't say that it breaks the rules...just unnecessary if slumbering in the depths unposted for say...2 years +/- depending on importance of info. Folks miss the date, jump in because the thread is back on page one, and sometimes the thread in question may contain now outdated information & responses.
2.) Blade West, sadly, has been gone for years. There are other shows in the Fall, NYCKS comes to mind.
3. I would first ask proxy for what? Busse & 'Kin? Here. :)
