I'm in heaven, despite the serial number on the tang. I have always wanted a multi blade from Mr. Shadley... and I love sunfish and whittler patterns. Not to mention pearl and gold pins. This guy is something else. No detail is missed, including the multiple blade and tang relief areas inside the liners. And the finish feels like warm butter on teflon. Not a bump or seam anywhere. Hope you don't mind me sharing.

That is super-nice - it's not hard to understand why you are so pleased. Congrats!

nice butt shot in your avatar.... seriously. What knife and maker is that?

Burt Foster full integral camp knife - inbound at present.

A question for you, if you happen to know - is there some historical purpose to the sunfish blade pattern? I absolutlely love the look, but the name "sunfish" seems descriptive of the blade's appearance rather than its intended purpose, unlike - say- "whittler". Is there are particular application that they were designed for

Beautiful Sleeveboard and Nice Pics!

Gene makes wonderful knives,IMOP His serial numbers are tastefully done
he keeps a record of when and what materials so if ever you have a question on a knife he can pull it up.I think it is a nice touch

why don't people show more of Gene's knives on here? The ones I have are as tight as any other I have...well, actually, tighter except for a couple.

Roger, OE may want to say more, but I believe the term is more a descriptive term in this case. The large spear blade was used to cut rope, sometimes using a mallet to hammer the blade through thick rope. The Sunfish pattern is called a Rope Knife and Elephant Toenail, also.

Our resident 'Sunfishman' could chime in, but I think Don is fishing in between blades for another day or two.

OE, very nice Shadley folder! His work is nothing but top notch. I hope to pick up one of his folders someday.

very nice... I like that one as well. Interesting shield... is that sort of an arrowhead pattern?

by the way, I don't have a problem with the serial number being there... it's the number itself. It's how I got this knife soooooo cheap (in my estimation). Not sure if the number is clear in the image, but use your imagination. Regardless of who cares and who doesn't, I'm amazed he didn't skip it ;)

Here was my previous Shadley while we're sharing. I beat myself within an inch of my life for selling it  Just a great size for EDC
