I'm having a ball! A guy came in the store and sold me a USED Benchmade Elishewitz design folder.
Why haven't I done this before?!?!? I am USING the silly thing. I got it with the edges of the blade worn, some scratches and chips in the "tactical" black finish of the blade. The pocket clip worn and used. But ....I ....USE...it. Carrying with change in pocket and don't care if it scratches a bit. Haven't used as a weed whacker yet, but might. Cuts salami like ....well....like a knife through butter.
Needed an edge put back on. Did that. The serrations kinda screwed up with amateur sharpening, but I got them pretty well back into shape. Holds an edge well. Cut paper and cardboard without worrying about gritting up the sides of the blade. Hooraw!
ATS-34, part serrated (which I don't particularly favor)...chisel point (which I ..NEVER..wanted) but ..... I'm using it and havin a ball.
Can't believe the difference from buying a NEW knife. I bet almost all of you have at least one (or more if you will admit) that has a nice diagonal scratch on an otherwise pristine blade as a result of that ONE slip on the stone, but the scratch keeps staring at you and yelling, "CLUMSY!" every time you look at the stupid thing.
It's like my guns. My uncle used to go hunting and carried his shotgun tossed (loose) in the back of the pickup. Used to drive me crazy, but he got his birds and just hung the gun in the back porch when he was done. Doubt he even knew guns COULD be cleaned.
This is FUN! USED is where it's at.
(Maybe I should take the rest of the collection and shake it up in a bucket so I would use the others like I am using this one.)
