I absolutely love the Spyderco Delica 4. An all-around EDC and just a super knife. One of the things I really love about it is the ergonomics. I can get a really nice grip with all 4 fingers, and the texturing on the FRN handle is great. But all this time, I had a feeling that the handle could be better and a bit more comfortable.

Then it hit me. It's the pocket clip. While clips have uses, I find that they more often than not just create hot spots on your hand and make the grip uncomfortable. I realized I just don't like pocket clips, no matter how well they are done.

So I removed the pocket clips from my Delicas, and wow! They feel like new knives. No more digging into my palm, and just a perfect grip. And I get the full benefit of the bi-directional texturing on both sides. I am just loving my Delicas without the pocket clips.

On a larger knife, I can see why you would want a clip, but for something as light and thin as a Delica, I think no clip is the way to go. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. Of course, it's a personal preference, but try it.

I've now also taken off the clips on my Dragonflies, and I love them better as well. But the Delicas without the clip are just perfect for me now in terms of grip and ergonomics.

I'm with you! My Delicas have the clips removed and they are just dropped in my right front pocket. I no longer carry slip joints because the Delica is such a great solution. I will say that I do carry an Alox Vic Rancher but otherwise the Delica is the pocket rider of choice.
