I recently acquired a Code 4 and it is the sleekest most sexy knife CS has produced in my experience. Its presence vanishing when clipped to the pocket. And with these feelings, comes the gleaning of limitless potential. Sleekness also means slickness in the case of the Code 4. Imagine trying to grab a speeding sports car with just the friction of your fingers on the smooth metal exterior. Dumb image :chargrined:.

This is why I haven't picked up a Code 4. I have passed on a lot of knives with metal frames. The otherwise good and great knives I've had, whose primary and sometimes only significant fault was they had metal blades that didn't offer a firm grip, have soured me. I usually want at least ONE side to be G10 or something grippier than smooth metal...

Taking this into consideration. I offer to you an idea that would meld the elegance of the Code 4 with tacticality and improved function: The Code 4 Elite! One side G-10, one side aluminum! (:emmersed:titanium?). G10 on the grip side, metal on the clip side -- to deploy easier and save your pants.

At first I thought of this when thinking how the slick handle would work with the idea of a possible Mini Code 4, I frequently tout, before realizing that the handle length is the only thing that keeps this thing gripped in your hand properly. So then the G-10 idea popped into my head. However not wanting to completely lose the sleek factor, I thought of what rje58 said -- and BaM!! -- this idea popped into my head.

---- If by any chance this idea was presented before, regarding the Code 4, then... BUMP! ----

At a 70-$80 street price point currently for the Code 4, CS can work with it. People are often shocked to get XHP for such an inexpensive price. By curing the drawbacks of the overall model, they can increase cost by a small margin (keeping it under 100, if not titanium :nevreness:) and release a near perfect all around tactical and elegant folder that everyone could still afford.

What do you think?

Amazing work. Its great to see this actually be done. You even detailed the aluminum.

That was a real treat. Definitely did not expect to see an image of this, thanks.

No words required, I heard "swedge" though. :chuncky:

Not a bad idea

Ya, that's actually a great idea. Clip side smooth for easy application/release from pocket. A rough back for easier thumb grip and removal. And the grippy side would engage the finger tips when in use.

seems to me a properly designs knife handle shape is all that is really needed. nothing wrong with extra grip except for pocket destruction and maybe wear and tear on one's hand, but not really needed. i saw it said once and i'm paraphrasing........ even is the handle was made of glass and oiled, if shaped correctly, it should stay in ones grip. i own a handful of code 4's and haven't noticed them being hard to hold or slipping. the aluminum while smooth isn't exactly slippery. i'm not against the idea, just adding fodder to discuss.....

You could try Guntape GT-5000. This is textured synthetic rubber, not sandpaper. I've used it on a Pocket Bushman and several cameras. Works great and seems to hold up well. Available on that online mega-bookstore that now seems to sell everything.

I was thinking about adding skateboard tape to my code4. Think I ll give the g5000 tape a try. More grip on that knife would definitely be useful.
