I am thinking about getting a Eureka Solitaire and am a little concerned based on a few of the reviews I have read. Do any of you guys own one? If so I would love to hear your opinions about it. I am also open to recommendations for a different 1 person tent. This one just looked decent for the price.

Thanks,
Billyp

I haven't used that tent specifically, but have a word of advice: Steer clear of tents with poles that have to be threaded through sleeves - it's a pain in the nuts in the pitch dark. :)

Without the fly, it can be can be set up with only two stakes. It is easy to move around once the poles are in place (like a collapsable basket). I can sit upright in it, which is a very comfortable feature for such a small and light tent. Pup and tube tents are claustrophobic by comparision.

How tall are you? If you are over six feet, the sleeping bag will be touching the tent wall at the feet end. As well there is not that much room under the wings, enough for cover footwear but not really your gear. Whether that matters or not depends on your conditions. I've been considered using the tent mainly as a bug screen and relying on a tarp as the overhead protection. But that's more weight, money, and work to rig up...

Correction: OOPS, I was talking about the spitfire the whole time.
